ZMF Caldera – Flagship Planar Magnetic Headphones (Open & Closed)
The ZMF Caldera series marks the brand’s first full-designed planar headphones, now available in open- and closed-back versions. Handcrafted in the USA, each pair features 80 mm planar drivers with ZMF’s proprietary Atrium Damping System (ADS) and asymmetrical magnet structure for refined tuning and controlled airflow.
Caldera Open
The open-back Caldera delivers expansive staging and detailed resolution, combining organic mids and tight bass with a natural treble extension. It retains the dynamic speed of planars while offering a spacious and lifelike presentation.
Caldera Closed
The closed-back Caldera adds a sub-bass boost and enhanced isolation while maintaining the clarity and character of the open version. Featuring a distinctive ‘Caldera Volcano’ cup design and closed-cap ADS tuning, it offers reference-level resolution with a Harman-style tuning and spacious imaging support in quieter environments.
Sound & Performance
Both versions excel in clarity, speed, and tonal balance. The open model delivers airy, open staging, while the closed model emphasises low-end control and midrange warmth without losing detail. Both maintain fast decay and layering thanks to ADS technology .
Build & Design
Each pair features hand-finished hardwood cups and robust metal yokes. The closed model introduces new cup geometry and wood-burning finishes like Shou Sugi Ban Ash, enhancing both sound and aesthetic appeal . Modular cables and pads make customisation easy.
Who It’s For
Open: Audiophiles seeking wide staging, transparency, and dynamic planars

The ZMF Caldera open- and closed-back models are ZMF’s flagship headphones, offering cutting-edge planar design combined with warm musicality and artisanal build.
